Durante la noche del lunes 14 de septiembre, se celebra la 78ª edición de los premios Emmy. Estos galardones reconocen a las mejores producciones de la televisión y de diversas plataformas.
La ceremonia, que se lleva a cabo en el emblemático Peacock Theater de Los Ángeles, California, reúne a las figuras y producciones más destacadas de la temporada en una noche que promete ser histórica.
La gala es conducida por Mariska Hargitay, protagonista y productora ejecutiva de La ley y el orden: Unidad de Víctimas Especiales.
Su participación marca un hito al convertirse en la primera mujer en presentar los Emmy en solitario en 15 años (desde Jane Lynch en 2011) y la cuarta en lograrlo en el siglo XXI.
Además, hay una larga lista de celebridades que subirán al escenario para entregar las estatuillas. Algunos de los nombres que figuran son los de Zendaya, Matthew McConaughey, Florence Pugh, Macaulay Culkin, Shailene Woodley, David Harbour, Jamie Lee Curtis y Sofía Vergara.
La gala incluirá además dos reencuentros icónicos. Buffy, la cazavampiros: David Boreanaz y Sarah Michelle Gellar se reunirán en el escenario para conmemorar el 30.º aniversario de la serie.
Los ángeles de Charlie: Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd y Jaclyn Smith participarán para celebrar los 50 años del show.

Para esta edición se inscribieron 555 programas en las 14 categorías principales de programación.
Además, la Academia introdujo varios cambios reglamentarios clave: reunificó los programas de entrevistas y variedades con guion en la categoría Mejor serie de variedades, adoptando el sistema de “area award” (donde los nominados no compiten directamente entre sí, sino que pueden resultar múltiples ganadores si alcanzan un umbral mínimo de votos).
Además, renombró la categoría de película para televisión oficialmente como Mejor película, actualizó las normativas sobre el uso de inteligencia artificial y elegibilidad técnica.
